El Duo Camino - Day Two

Before starting the walk, we read the Pilgrims Prayer. Day 2 just like day 1 started with a steep climb. This start was not lost on us. We took both steep starts as an affirmation that in this journey we must work to be the best version of ourselves by looking up to The Light.

Day 2 surrounded us with many more fellow peregrinos. This too was not lost on us. Even if you feel that you are walking alone in life, God shows us that we are never alone. There is a community in everything and El Camino is no different.

Myriam (Bibi’s mom) said it best, “Look at what He has created. Isn’t HE magical!”

These maps, arrows and messages brought us comfort knowing we were getting closer to our day 2 endpoint.

At mile 12, we were in desperate need of a break and A Paso de Formiga was just what we needed. We shared a delicious tortilla Espanola, (again, we have no idea how to insert the ene) a cana (yes, missing the ene here too) and bread. This fueled us to finish the remaining 4 miles left.

We are delirious here! It took us 6 and 1/2 hours to do almost 15.5 miles. We still can’t believe we’ve walked these last two days for about 30 miles in arduous terrain. Fun Fact! Our longest stretch is tomorrow at 28 km.

Here’s the cottage we are staying in at Palas de Rei. For those of you wondering, no it doesn’t have AC but we don’t care. We are blessed to be on this walk, we are blessed to have had a cold shower, we are blessed to have a warm meal and blessed to have a bed to sleep in. It becomes the little things that matter most.

We end Day 2 with this ultimate sign. Yesterday, Bibi posted this verse on Instagram. Today, during our walk she noticed the same verse in Spanish posted on a cottage. 🧡

Stay tuned for Day 3!
