Things we’ve learned, experienced, seen, and felt along the way.

The More You Know

Before El Camino became a reality, we immersed ourselves in everything ‘EL CAMINO’. Here are our suggestions of books, movies, podcasts and other discoveries.

The Podcast that Bibi listened to on her way to work and probably during work. Shhh, it’s a secret. 😉

If you haven’t seen it, stop browsing our site and go watch it! And then invite others to see it.  ❤️

When you start letting family and friends know that you are planning on doing El Camino, then they begin giving you suggestions of what to read and watch. Here’s a perfect example of one. The Smithsonian Channel series titled, Sacred Sites, spans the globe to visit some of the world’s most remarkable religious sites and episode three from Season 2 is no exception. Watch, The Camino, even the most well-versed in El Camino will learn a thing or two.

Meet Felix Zabala! This is Bibi’s colleague, friend and most important title, Fellow Peregrino. Felix has completed El Camino de Santiago numerous times. He has become an inspiration and has shared his beautiful, amazing stories of his journeys. He has also been one of the few peregrinos who has shared the realities of this walk. In his words, “You will bleed from areas you didn’t know were possible”.

The next couple of pictures were books read in preparation for this journey. It also provided much excitement as to what we were going to experience with it’s knowledge and insight.

A MUST READ!

Buen Camino

A tradition of the Camino is obtaining a Credencial, also known as The Pilgrim’s Passport. The Credencial is stamped in each town or village along your route. This document serves as proof to the Pilgrim’s office in Santiago that you have walked the Camino as a Pilgrimage in a Christian sense. On arrival at Santiago de Compostela, you take your stamped Credencial to the Pilgrim’s office, where you will be provided with a certificate proving that you have followed the Camino de Sanitago pilgrimage.

The Credencial can be ordered at:

We can’t wait for this tradition to become our reality! We will share with you our stamped Credenical along the way. June 9, 2022

This will be our daily observance.

Take Everything & the Kitchen Sink

Below is a list of what you will find in our backpacks for this walk. Some things will make the final cut but we will have to wait and see.

This is an important item to take. My Camino journal to document the journey and experiences that come along with it!

Hiking backpack

Compeed for blisters

Wide brim hat with breathable mesh for ventilation

A microfiber towel-small, lightweight, quick dry

Rain jacket WITH a hood

Reflective tape-this is to be placed on our backpack for the times throughout the walk when it is dark, usually very early mornings.

Runner’s belt-used for personal belongings ie: passport, ID, money etc…

Merino wool hiking socks

Solar charger

Hydraulics Water Reservoir-to stay hydrated, especially after all the vino!

The very versatile BUFF! Don’t go hiking without it.

This is a first for us and we are thinking it might become one of those items that won’t make the cut. But for now, we’ve packed our portable washbag.

Now here’s an item we are familiar with. Pedialyte! It has helped hydrate us on many hangover occasions. We are hoping it does the same during our walk.

If you know us, you know who is packing this item. Felix made it very clear that you bleed from areas you didn’t know were possible. We are hoping (or at least one of us is) that this Butt Paste does its magic.

Food is fuel! Side Note: It also has helped in tense situations to ease anxiety.  🙃

So excited about these hiking shoes. We can’t wait to use them. They are known to give your feet more space to sit naturally. Hence the wide look!
