Two Days in Madrid

It was difficult to capture the history, beauty, food and good drinks in just two days. But in true Ana and Bibi fashion, we managed to toast (several times a day), find shade, walk (yes, we did some pre-walking prior to the REAL WALK), eat, laugh, dance and find divine signs along the way.

Here’s our first cheers while waiting for our AirBnB.

Taberna La Concha was a favorite for many different reasons. The bar, our favorite, the street where the bar is located (Calle de la Cava Baja), our favorite, and the drink, Vermut, our favorite. But what sealed the deal, was the name. It wasn’t until we walked out in search of another bar that we realized it’s significance…La Concha!!! This spoke volumes.

Lola (my mom) has been with me in more ways than one. 🧡

We couldn’t visit Madrid without eating at the Posada de la Villa. Bibi’s parents, aunt and uncle discovered this place and everyone that has traveled to Madrid, they’ve sent there. On your next Madrid trip, make sure to add it to your list.

Vermut at Taberna La Concha. We ordered this drink because we were the only two people in this place not having this cocktail. It’s a popular one among the locals. It has become our favorite cocktail. Don’t ask us what’s in it, we still don’t know expect to say it’s pure deliciousness.

From wandering the cobblestone streets, to enjoying the Spanish delicacies, visiting the Palacio Real, Museo de Prado, strolling in el Parque del Retiro, and people watching in Plaza Mayor, has made Madrid amazing! We can’t forget Mercado de San Miguel, where we tried just about everything this marketplace has to offer.

Arrived in Madrid with two hats and two suitcases but so far we are leaving with an extra suitcase (I wonder who???), two extra hats, and a pair of alpargatas. Living the Madrid life.
